Acting Coaching

My unique acting coaching approach is suited to actors who are looking for an embodied way into character and language. Through physical and vocal explorations of text, actors can learn how to have the lived experience of a character’s behaviors and find out more about who the character is through how they themselves are breathing, thinking and feeling when they commit to the character’s behaviors. This way of working allows actors to bring their own humanity to their characters, rather than feeling like they have to transform into someone else or deny any experience they are having because it’s ‘not right for the character’, while at the same time learning how to best honor the playwright’s intentions.

My approach is a unique mixing together of international acting, voice, text, bodywork techniques and presence work, including David Mamet and William H. Macy’s “Practical Aesthetics” acting technique, Fitzmaurice Voicework®, the work of Barbara Houseman, the work of Cicely Berry, the Alexander Technique®, and Organic Intelligence®. It is a culmination of my own acting training, voice training and teaching research as a voice and speech trainer in various university acting programs.
