The voice is your primary means for expressing your thoughts, feelings and information— essentially, what matters to you. We use our voices to relate, to lead, to inform, to emphasize, to debate and to communicate, all of which can present challenges to your voice: Tension, fatigue, or just your own perception that you don’t come across as you want to.
My work focuses particularly on relieving any excess tensions in the body that may be affecting the breathing mechanism, learning how to modulate your air flow to fully support your voice so that it stays healthy, resonant, empowered and connected, and mindfulness techniques to help you stay aware of what is happening in the body/breath/voice, particularly to manage nerves. I help you build the foundation that gives your voice lasting carrying power.

Voicing what matters in public is a big deal, whether in an interview, a meeting of five or in front of a large audience. Perhaps you experience difficulties breathing, physical tension, difficulties seeing or hearing, or have trouble pacing your speech or getting your voice to carry or express how you feel about what you’re saying.
As a public speaking coach, I help you create some initial conditions for yourself that allow you to turn any “charge” around public speaking into what fuels you to speak. We explore presence and mindfulness work, body language, breathing and voice techniques that allow your full self to come to the table.

I work with actors who are looking for an embodied approach to character and language. Through physical and vocal explorations of text, actors can learn how to have the lived experience of a character’s behaviors and find out more about who the character is through how they themselves are breathing, thinking and feeling when they commit to the character’s behaviors.
My approach is a unique culmination of my own acting training, voice training and teaching research as a voice and speech trainer in various university acting programs.

Accents are physical behaviors, so we develop your awareness of how your speech muscles shape sound so that you can easily shift from one accent to another and feel your way into it, without relying on the sometimes faulty ear or constantly needing an accent coach to tell you that you are doing it right. My approach is heavily influenced by Knight-Thompson Speechwork® and the ‘How to Do Accents’ method by Edda Sharpe and Jan Haydn Rowles.
While I enjoy coaching anyone in any accent, I have a specialty in working with British actors on their General American accents.

Breathing is the power source for the voice. But breathing isn’t just essential for speaking— breathing is literally your life force, and your habits around how you breathe are central to how you perceive the world.
As a breathing coach, I work with the natural wisdom of the body to help you unlock restrictive breathing patterns and breathe with more ease, so that you can be responsive rather than reactive in your communication. Through my unique approach you’ll learn to trust that the body knows how to breathe, and how to let go of the reigns so that deep breathing can come naturally to you.
My coaching can help those who are habitually stressed, anxious, or tense— either all the time or in particular public speaking or high-stakes situations. In addition to in-person coaching, I have a digital mini-course for $30.00 called Demystifying Deep Breathing in 30 minutes which you can take in your own time, at your own pace.
